What is Youth for Change?
Youth for Change is a youth-led program that aims at Inspiring, Informing and Involving Arab youth as Agents of Change in their communities.

Adel is one of the young leaders in Algeria, Youth Trainer, Councilor with Educational institutions supported by the training center in the Euro-Mediterranean region since June 2007, he has the certificate efficiency professional law firm since 3 years and is involved in the defense of youth issues and human rights. He is a member in the Algerian network of youth associations, General Manager of the "HASSAD" Algerian youth magazine 2007-2008 and he was the initiator of "Volunteers Without borders" which is a group of youth volunteers that had participated in organizing different national events. In addition, he is a member of the Commission on Sustainable Development UN CSD as Youth Delegate of GYAN and the MENA Director of Top30Under30 project, which is an idea concerning the young entrepreneurs that they are less than 30 years and they are helping the poor, illiterate and orphans. He is a member of the youth team in the Arab Human Development Report by UNDP, a founding member of the Arab Youth Association in 2007 and participated in a several leadership-training programs in the Arab region.
Milad is a Jordanian TV journalist in Bahrain. She holds a bachelor's degree in journalism and mass communication from Yarmouk University in Jordan. Since 11 years, she started to gain her working experience in television and radio and before that she worked for two years in the press. Three years ago, she participated in several activities related to the founding of the Jordanian Youth Parliament. In addition, she volunteered for the Arab Women Media Centre and the Federation of Jordanian Women.
Ahamed completed his university studies in Morocco (Rabat and Fez) where he had his higher technical diploma in telecommunication networks, and electronics engineering. He was appointed to be the Head of ICT at the Ministry of Communication for Postal and Telecommunications in Ngazidja Comoros. Meanwhile, he is an active member of the society of scientists and engineers-Comoros. In this association, he worked with the project development team and the main trainers of computer literacy in rural towns. Currently, he is the CEO of the Community Television Chomoni, President of the Association of Arab youth in the Comoros, he is also the owner of a cyber café in multiservice.
Mouktar has a great experience in the fields of law, administration and accounting. He has built up his professional capabilities in the IT field and has multiple certificates from many reputable bodies in Djibouti in Computer Sciences and Management Information System (MIS). In addition, Mouktar was a trainee at Djibouti Telecom, a primary telecommunications company in Djibouti that provides landlines, mobiles and internet services. He has contributed to many Civil Society activities in Djibouti and participated in the International Forum on Citizenship & Identity (The African Horn). He has also participated in initiatives that targeted youth in Djibouti and that aimed to make a change. Lately, Mouktar participated in the training of peer educators in Casablanca and became the focal point in Djibouti.
Ahmed is the project officer at El Masry Foundation for community service. His professional background is mainly focused on civil society and youth development. He started social activities 8 years ago through the simulation models in Cairo University and AUC, and joined many NGOs as a volunteer like Alshank ya baldy, Dreamers of tomorrow and Siraj program. Moreover, during this time, he was working in many local and international organizations. Now, he is the director of Discovering the real Egypt (the chapter), a non-profit initiative aiming to spread awareness through the culture of discovering the history and cultural in Egypt.
Essam is an Assistant Lecturer at the Political Science College in the University of Mesopotamia. Essam holds a Ph.D. from the Institute of Arab Studies and Research, of the League of Arab States, Department of Politics. Essam has worked on different researches related to Arab World politics as well as Youth and Human Rights. He has participated in different youth development and political related events and workshops such as the Third Meeting for Arab Youth activists in Jordan organized by Save the Children, as well as numerous conferences and symposia in many Iraqi and Egyptian universities and research centers. Essam decided to return to Iraq and apply the theories and lessons he learned from participating in the different events and workshops in an attempt to help his fellow Iraqi youth to create a space for them to express themselves and dream for a better future and that is when he co-founded the Iraqi Youth Parliament, which is an Iraqi non-governmental youth organization and he became its President until September 2009.
Hala holds a bachelor's degree and an excellence certificate in Social Work from the University of Jordan. Since 2002, she started to achieve her approach to be a youth activist and received many different courses in various fields such as citizenship, public action, human rights and child rights. In 2007 she worked for the Jordan Hashemite Fund for human development/ training center for development as a trainer and coordinator for the developmental programs for youth and children. She received advanced training in the human and refugees' rights field which qualified her to become a trainer with the National Center for Human Rights. Currently, she is working with the American Near East Refugee Aid (ANERA). She received a Youth for Change mini-grant for her project (Green Snowball) which is a youth development project that aims to prepare a group of youth to be activists in the environmental field through providing awareness for people in Zarqa camp about the environmental issues and increasing the green spaces in the camp.
Basma studied Political Science at Kuwait University and currently works in one of the local banks. She was a political activist at Kuwait University and participated in many seminars and conferences. She has interests in voluntary work in the human rights field and her hobbies are drawing and swimming.
Grace has a BS degree in environmental health, a teaching diploma in health education (2003), and a master's degree in environmental sciences / environmental health (2008) from the American University of Beirut (AUB). She worked as a research assistant in AUB / Faculty of Health Sciences until 2009 when she joined Holcim Liban, a cement manufacturing company, as a CSR coordinator (corporate social responsibility) in the department of sustainable development. She is also the communication manager at Holcim Liban. She is a leader in "Guides Nationales Orthodoxes" (GNO). Grace received one of Youth for Change mini-grants for her project "Girl Power: Let's break the silence on HIV/Aids" which aims at educating young girls on HIV/Aids through a series of trainings and activities.
Mansour received the certificate of HND of Computer Programming and has a Diploma in NLP from American Board for Human Development. He is a volunteer for Libyan Red Crescent since 2002, a trainer of First Aid for community for IFR and a facilitator of the project Youth Agent for Behavioral Change & IFRC, as well as the Libyan Representative for North Africa of Red Crescent Meeting about society awareness of Immigrants. He was also a participant in the meeting of North Africa to prepare a toolkit of awareness about traffic accidents, a coordinator of media and awareness for LRC/ Agedabya branch, a member of the Local Committee for preventing HIV / Agedabya branch as well as a member of the national team for Safety and Diving. Mansour is a correspondent and a journalist for Al Fajir Al Gadid Newspaper and Agedabyia Newspaper in the General Committee of Journalism in Libya. He is also photographer and an active member (a writer) at Al Agedabi Website.
Rajel studied at the University of Nouakchott and completed his masters in Geography in 2009. He began as a volunteer in social issues in 2001 in (El-Manar) club. After that, he created the Association for Dialogue, Culture and Creativity (ADCC) in 2004. He participated in many different trainings about human rights, media information, documentary cinema, written and visual journalism, new media and information of tolerance and he casted his first film in the province Dar Na'am. He is a member in the Arab African center of information and development and manager of the youth unit in the center. He is also a member of Mauritanian journalists' syndicate, association of (A-Dade) for protecting Arab language, Mauritanian theater union, local network of youth clubs, international union of journalists as well as the coordinator of Arab initiation for electronic information in Mauritania. He has obtained some degrees and attestations from the following centers: International center of journalists, Endalus center of tolerance, Egyptian radio houriyitna, Egyptian liberal union, France francophone center, Administration of high education and scientific research as well as the national committee of elections in Mauritania.
Naoufal graduated from the higher institution of applied technologies (ISTA), and currently he is a student in the faculty of science at Fez. He speaks 5 different languages (Arabic, French, English, German and Spanish). Since two years, Naoufal began working with local associations in the field of environment, education and sustainable development. He is a member in some social organizations, and currently president of the DOVE association section FES / SAIS and also the coordinator of the association CSM (Site Social Moroccans) for the region of Fez.
Saif is working as a Project Control Engineer and he was involved in volunteering work since 1994 when he joined the scout movements. He continued working with the community and got more interest on this field when he joined the Youth peer Education Network; a youth network initiated by UNFPA. He has attended different trainings, scout camp, workshops, conference and meeting. He holds a position of ypeer focal point in Oman. He likes camping and adventures, and his favorite hobbies are sketching, drawing and listen to music.
Manar graduated from Bethlehem University – Palestine from the Faculty of Business Administration (Management) and pursuing her Masters Degree from the Institute of Arab Research and Studies of the League of Arab States, Economics Department. Since 7 years, Manar is working in the field of youth development, she has worked as a Youth Projects Coordinator at Youth Development Department, and she was the Program Manager for the Faisal Husseini Youth Award – The International Award. She has participated in different international youth trainings and exchange programs organized by the Council of Europe and YAP (Youth Action for Peace), as well as many activities organized by the League of Arab States. She spent three months as an intern at the league of Arab States and was part of the organization team of the Euro–Arab youth conference organized by the League of Arab States which took place in Tunisia and Sicily, July 2010. In the meantime Manar is working as the Youth Program Officer at the African Community Society – Jerusalem.
Mariam graduated from the University of Qatar: College of Engineering/ Industrial & Systems Engineering department in June 2010. She experienced several positions in different clubs in Qatar University such as Engineering Club and Research Club. Mariam has been involved in voluntary activities in Qatar University events as well as local events such as Qatar Career Fair 2009 and Reach Out to Asia (ROTA) Ramadan Project 2008. She has participated in many development conferences and workshops as: Second Annual Leadership Conference with Peace College students (USA) 2008 and Excellence & Distinction Skill workshop series 2007. Her participation was extended to Dubai by attending Education without Borders (EWB) conference in 2009. Mariam's hobbies are drawing, photography as well as volunteering.
Farah started pioneering since she was 14 years old which made her aware of the demands of her society. As a result of that, she established the first training center in her town which concerns about developing the people of her society. She joined and completed lots of training programs. After she completed her academic studies, she joined The United Nations Industrial Development Organization to learn business administration then she became a Certified Trainer of managing and planning the small and medium enterprises. Farah has been certified as a consultant from Hermann Brain Dominance Instrument as a result of several researches and studies in respect of the pattern of human thinking and how can brain dominance affect the human behavior. She also founded the group of Masters Internationals in Saudi Arabia licensed by their main office in USA.
Abdiaziz started studying management at ABE-Association of Business Executives and successfully completed an advanced diploma in June 2008. Now, he is studying economics at International Horn University as a senior student. He has been involved in youth activities for the last 5 years. In 2005, he became a youth trainer for leadership and organizational development, and youth peer educator. In 2007, he has been appointed to be the organizational mentor by the National Youth Umbrella (SONYO) to provide capacity building trainings to the youth organizations in several regions. He is currently a member of Somaliland Youth Peer Education Network as Theatre Based Peer Education Trainer of Trainees. He attended many workshops and seminars.
Nagham holds a bachelor degree with honor in community health management /school of family sciences at Ahfad University for Women. She received trainings and is a trainer in different fields such as youth and adolescents' sexual and reproductive health, Gender, Peer Education, using Theatre as medium for community development and youth development issues. She joined some regional trainings that are conducted by youth Peer Education Network (Y-PEER) with focus on RH and HIV/AIDS. Then she joined the global youth coalition on HIV/AIDS as a National Focal Point. In 2008 she was one of Y-peer Core team, participated in establishing Y-peer Sudan and joined UNFPA Sudan County Office as an intern for 10 months, then fellow and Focal point in charge where she is coordinated and managed the network for 16 months. Now, she is an Executive Director for Gesr Centre for Development.
Heba is studying at Damascus University, Department of Sociology. She was a volunteer at the Red Crescent for five years as well a volunteer in the Syrian Commission for Family Affairs for two years and worked with them in the final report by young people in Syria. Currently, she is working with the United Nations Children's Fund UNICEF within the program of development and the participation of young people as a counselor, and working with young people within the program of promoting the health of adolescents.
Hafedh started volunteering at the age of 15 in a table tennis association in Tunisia. His immersion into humanitarian field took place at the age of 20 when he started volunteering with the Tunisian Red Crescent. At first, he started working on HIV/AIDS and advocated for the creation of a youth department in the NGO. He made out one of the most active youth friendly spaces in Tunisia from 2005 till now. He worked on the implementation of many youth projects at the national level, and was charged with many missions dealing with youth advocacy, volunteer management, health programs, and first aid. He got a trainer of trainers of first aid in 2007. He was one of the winners of Youth for Change mini-grants for his project "Young Leaders for Positive Change". He also received a scholarship from the program to attend the World Youth Congress in Istanbul 2010.
Abrar is a youth activist and student of the MA program in Peace, Development, Security and International Conflict Transformation. Motivated with a passion for peace-building and inter-cultural efforts, she has participated in a number of Arab and international events that aim to contribute towards global understanding and mutual co-operation. Abrar is a member of several leading organizations including the United Religions Initiative, Youth for Environmental Sanity (YES!) and the British Council's Global Change makers through representing Arab youth in last year's World Economic Forum on the Middle East. She coordinated and assisted in several humanitarian projects including orphanage visits in Egypt, Tanzania and India as well as the production of a one-hour radio program entitled "The Many Peaces" in Austria. Abrar's area of activism also involves advocating respect for human rights, enforcing women's education and environmental protection.
Jamal has a Bachelor degree of Computer Sciences-Hadhramout University of Sciences and Technology (HUST) - Hadramout - Yemen. Currently, he works as the executive manager of Youth Initiative Foundation in Yemen and consultant to the Social Fund for Development, General Manager and the Founder of "Democracy Youth Society" in Hadhramout, as well as Coordinator of the clubs of democracy and human rights in Hadramout . He was the Hadramout Coordinator for the assessment for local democracy in Yemen and participated in several local and Arabic conferences and workshops in Yemen, Egypt, Bahrain, Lebanon, and Saudi Arabia.
